How to Apply
Applications to ALIT follow one of two pathways. Every applicant completes the same core steps: identification, a pre-enrolment review of language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills, advice from ALIT on whether the course suits you, and a written agreement before any payment is made. International applicants complete additional steps relating to CRICOS-registered courses and student visa arrangements. Choose the pathway that applies to you.
Domestic and other eligible applicants
Australian citizens, permanent residents, New Zealand citizens and other visa holders whom ALIT confirms are eligible to enrol through its non-CRICOS application pathway. Six steps from enquiry to course commencement, including a pre-enrolment review before your enrolment is confirmed.

Contact ALIT by telephone, email or through the website. ALIT provides the Student Handbook and course information so that applicants can review course content, duration, delivery mode and fees before applying.
Apply
Submit an application online or in person at an ALIT campus.
Course entry interview
ALIT conducts a pre-training review with each applicant. This includes an assessment of language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills, a review of prior qualifications and work experience, and identification of any support an applicant may require during their course. Applicants who have already completed units or qualifications with another Australian registered training organisation should bring the evidence to this interview, as credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning may apply.
Enrolment offer and Statement of Fees
Following the pre-enrolment review, ALIT advises whether the course is suitable and issues a written Statement of Fees. This sets out the course code and title, duration, delivery mode, location, tuition and non-tuition fees, the payment schedule, refund conditions and any additional costs. Applicants should read it in full before accepting or making any payment.
Acceptance and payment
Applicants accept the offer and sign the student agreement, then pay the amount set out in the Statement of Fees. Applicants also provide the identification ALIT requires and a valid Unique Student Identifier, unless an exemption applies. Applicants who do not hold a Unique Student Identifier can apply for one at no cost at usi.gov.au. ALIT verifies the Unique Student Identifier as part of enrolment.
Enrolment confirmed and course commencement
ALIT confirms the enrolment and issues a training plan and joining instructions setting out the start date, class times and campus address. Applicants attend orientation on the first scheduled day of the course.

Review the course and entry requirements
Review the CRICOS-registered course page, including the course code and title, CRICOS code, entry requirements, duration, delivery mode, location, fees, additional costs, support services and applicable policies. ALIT provides the Student Handbook and Course Brochure, and links to official Australian Government student visa information. ALIT does not assess visa eligibility and does not provide migration advice.
Submit an application
Complete the approved application form online or in person and provide the required identity, academic, English language and other supporting documents. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance, enrolment, a Confirmation of Enrolment or a student visa.
Complete the pre-enrolment review
ALIT reviews the applicant's course entry requirements, previous education and experience, language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills, individual support needs and suitability for the selected training product. ALIT may request further documentation or arrange an interview in person, by telephone or by video call.
Receive the application outcome
ALIT advises whether the selected course is suitable. Where information or evidence is incomplete, ALIT may request further documents or issue a Conditional Letter of Offer identifying the outstanding requirements. A Conditional Letter of Offer does not confirm enrolment.
Review and accept the Written Agreement
Applicants who meet the applicable requirements receive a Letter of Offer and Written Agreement setting out the course details, fees, payment schedule, refund conditions, obligations and applicable policies. Read the Written Agreement carefully and accept it before making any payment.
Receive the Confirmation of Enrolment where applicable
After the applicant has met the entry requirements, completed the required pre-enrolment checks, accepted the Written Agreement and paid the amount specified in that agreement, ALIT may issue an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment for the accepted CRICOS-registered course. A Confirmation of Enrolment supports a student visa application but does not guarantee that a visa will be granted.
Prepare for commencement and orientation
International applicants are responsible for applying for and obtaining the appropriate visa before travelling to Australia. Issuing a Letter of Offer or a Confirmation of Enrolment does not guarantee a visa outcome or entry into Australia. Before commencement, ALIT provides pre-arrival, orientation and support information. For applicants applying for a student visa to study with ALIT on a Confirmation of Enrolment, Overseas Student Health Cover arrangements are checked at the admissions and pre-arrival stage and reconfirmed at orientation. At orientation ALIT also confirms personal and residential details, contact and next-of-kin information, individual support needs, and the applicant's Unique Student Identifier where one is held. Students arriving from overseas can only create a Unique Student Identifier after entering Australia; ALIT advises newly arrived students how and when to create one and provide it.
