Training Product Transition
Qualifications and units are updated over time by the national training system. If that
happens while you are enrolled, your training does not simply stop — you are transitioned. This page
explains what that means for you.
Why courses change
Nationally recognised qualifications sit inside training packages that are periodically reviewed and
updated by industry. When a qualification or unit is updated, the older version becomes superseded and
a newer version replaces it. Occasionally a product is deleted with no replacement.
What happens to your enrolment
The principle: if your qualification is superseded while you are enrolled, ALIT
manages your transition in a timely way — either you complete the version you started, or we move you
into the replacement. Which one applies depends on the training product and on how far through the course
you are, and we tell you in writing.

What it costs you
Where ALIT moves you into a replacement qualification, we tell you in writing before the change whether
there is any effect on your fees, and you will not be charged for repeating learning you have already
completed. If a change would affect what you pay, we discuss it with you first.
Your certification
You are issued certification for the version of the qualification you actually completed. A qualification
issued under a superseded code remains a valid, nationally recognised qualification — it does not expire
or become worthless because a newer version exists.
What we will tell you, and when
- That the change is happening, and what it means for your enrolment
- Whether you are transitioning or completing the current version
- Any effect on your course duration, timetable or units
- For international students, any effect on your Confirmation of Enrolment and visa

Common questions
What happens if my qualification is superseded while I am studying?
You either complete the version you started, where that can be done within the transition period for that product, or ALIT transitions you into the replacement. ALIT writes to you telling you which applies and what it means for your study. Your training does not simply stop.
Will I have to pay more if ALIT transitions me to a new qualification?
