The short answer: according to the national training register (training.gov.au), CHC52015 was superseded by CHC52021 in December 2022, and CHC52021 was superseded by CHC52025 in September 2025. CHC52025 Diploma of Community Services is the current code. If you are enrolling now, check that your provider is enrolling you in the current qualification, and check the register for your situation if you hold or started an older version.
The three codes at a glance
| Code | Qualification title | Status on training.gov.au (checked 29 September 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| CHC52015 | Diploma of Community Services | Superseded (current from 2015 until 7 December 2022) |
| CHC52021 | Diploma of Community Services | Superseded (current from 8 December 2022 until 4 September 2025) |
| CHC52025 | Diploma of Community Services | Current (first released 5 September 2025) |
The qualification did not move from CHC52015 to CHC52025 in one step. CHC52015 was replaced by CHC52021, which was later replaced by CHC52025. Always confirm the current code on the National Training Register before enrolling.
What is CHC52025?
The national qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities. It consists of 20 units: 12 core units and 8 elective units, with at least 6 electives chosen from the packaged elective groups. The national listing states that the qualification has no entry requirements. A provider can set its own admission requirements, so check the provider’s course page.
The register lists CHC52025 as first released in CHC Community Services Release 10.0. For unit-level changes compared with earlier versions, use the mapping information on the register instead of relying on a summary.
If you hold an older version
A qualification you completed while it was current does not disappear when a newer version is released. Whether an employer or funding body asks for the current code is their decision, so confirm with them if you are unsure. If you are starting study now, the current code is CHC52025.

Industry Recognition
Completing CHC52025 does not by itself qualify a graduate for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). AASW membership requires an AASW-accredited Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work (qualifying) degree, or an overseas qualification AASW has assessed as comparable, and a VET diploma such as CHC52025 does not meet this requirement. CHC52025 is a nationally recognised qualification listed on the National Training Register. Roles in case management, program coordination and support, including roles funded under the NDIS, the Aged Care Act and state government programs, have their own screening, experience and role requirements, and employers decide who they hire. Anyone seeking AASW membership should confirm current eligibility directly with the AASW.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still study CHC52015?
No. CHC52015 is superseded on the national register, and providers should enrol new students in the current qualification, CHC52025. If you already started an older version, ask your provider how any transition arrangements apply to you.
Does CHC52025 meet NDIS requirements?
Not automatically. The NDIS Practice Standards apply to registered providers and do not name this qualification as a compulsory credential, and role requirements vary by employer and support type. Confirm current requirements with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and the employer.
What jobs can I get with CHC52025?
Graduates may apply for roles such as case manager, family support worker, program coordinator, community development officer or team leader, subject to each employer’s requirements and any screening that applies. A qualification does not guarantee employment.
How long does CHC52025 take at ALIT?
ALIT lists an 81-week study duration for the CHC52025 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management). Read more about course duration.
What are the entry requirements for CHC52025?
The national qualification has no entry requirements. ALIT sets its own admission requirements, which are on its course page. Check the full entry requirements.
What is the difference between CHC52025 and CHC50421?
CHC50421 is not an earlier version of the Diploma of Community Services. It is the Diploma of Youth Work, a separate qualification in the same CHC Community Services Training Package, and the register lists it as superseded on 4 September 2025. For community services case management use CHC52025; if you are looking for youth work, check the current Diploma of Youth Work code on the National Training Register.
