CRICOS-Approved Courses at ALIT: A Complete Guide for International Students

If you’re planning to study in Australia on a student visa, the course you choose has to be CRICOS-registered — no exceptions. This guide explains what CRICOS actually means, how to check a course is genuinely approved, and which CRICOS-registered qualifications are currently available to international students at ALIT.

What is CRICOS?

CRICOS stands for the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students. It’s the official Australian Government register listing every education provider and course approved to enrol international students on a student visa (subclass 500). If a course isn’t listed on CRICOS, an overseas student generally cannot use it to obtain or maintain a student visa.

Every CRICOS-registered provider has a CRICOS Provider Code (the institution-level registration), and every CRICOS-registered course has its own separate CRICOS Course Code. Always check both when comparing providers — a legitimate provider code doesn’t automatically mean every course they offer is CRICOS-approved.

ALIT’s CRICOS registration

ALIT (Australian Leading Institute of Technology) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 45156) and a CRICOS-registered provider (CRICOS Provider Code 03981M), approved to enrol and train international students on a student visa at our West Melbourne campus.

CRICOS-registered courses currently available at ALIT

Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) CHC52025 114248F 81 weeks
Certificate IV in Ageing Support CHC43015 114247G 36–52 weeks

Course availability, CRICOS codes and durations can change — always confirm current CRICOS status directly with ALIT or on the official CRICOS register before enrolling or applying for a visa.

How to verify a course is genuinely CRICOS-registered

Never take a provider’s word for it alone. You can independently verify any Australian course or provider on the Australian Government’s official CRICOS course register. Search by provider name or CRICOS provider code and confirm the course code matches what you’ve been offered before you pay any fees or accept an offer letter.

What you need alongside a CRICOS course for a student visa

  • A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) issued by the provider once you’ve accepted your offer and paid required fees
  • Evidence of sufficient funds and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
  • English language proficiency evidence, where required by the course or visa conditions
  • A Genuine Student (GS) statement as part of your subclass 500 visa application

Visa requirements are set by the Australian Department of Home Affairs, not by individual providers, so always check current requirements on their website before you apply.

Why this matters for your visa

Studying a non-CRICOS course while on a student visa — or a course that later loses its CRICOS registration — can put your visa at risk. Choosing an established RTO with a track record of CRICOS registration, like ALIT, reduces that risk considerably.

Frequently asked questions

Can I study any ALIT course on a student visa?

No — only the CRICOS-registered courses listed above are currently approved for international students. Confirm the current list with an ALIT advisor before applying.

What’s the difference between a CRICOS provider code and a course code?

The provider code (ALIT’s is 03981M) registers the institution itself. Each individual course also needs its own CRICOS course code — check both.

Where can I officially verify CRICOS registration?

Search the Australian Government’s official CRICOS course register using the provider name or CRICOS provider code.
